BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (10-11-10) — BigUSports.com is proud to announce the Player of the Week awards for this past weekend’s college football action across the state of Oklahoma, as the organization honors Korey Williams, Northwestern Oklahoma State; Jamario Thomas, Bacone College; Jaron Burgess, Southwestern Oklahoma State; and Nate Guillory, Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors for last weekend of play goes to Williams. Williams, a senior wide receiver for Northwestern, pulled in six catches for 108 yards and a touchdown in the Rangers victory over Southern Nazarene, 62-42. To go along with his receiving effort, Williams also had two rushes for 30 yards, including an eight-yard run for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Also picking up with the award in the offensive category was for the first time this season is Thomas. A transfer from Coffeyville Community College (Kan.), the junior running back Thomas recorded 11 yards a carry in the Warriors rout of Southwestern Assemblies of God, 66-17. Thomas totaled 132 yards and two touchdowns, including a 15-yard run with less than a minute remaining in the first half.

Earning the defensive award for his performance in a double-overtime loss at Southwestern Oklahoma State is Burgess of SWOSU. A senior linebacker from Norman, Okla., Burgess recorded two sacks and a forced fumble. He finished the contest with five solo tackles, while assisting on two. In all, he helped force 24-yards of lost yardage by the Savage Storm offense.

For the second time this season, outstanding running back and returner, Guillory, has been named Special Teams Player of the Week. Guillory totaled 131 yards on two kick returns and a touchdown against Southern Nazarene. Guillory’s touchdown came midway though the third quarter, returning the kick 90-yards for the score. The Northwestern senior finished the contest with 333 all-purpose yards.

Northwestern returns to action Saturday afternoon as they host Thomas and the Bacone Warriors. Kickoff is set for a 2 p.m. start at Ranger Field.

Lone Star Conference rival Northeastern State will visit the Southwestern Oklahoma State Bulldogs, with the game kicking off around 6 p.m.
